Laurent Mekies looks back positively on the race in Miami. Max Verstappen finished fifth and Isack Hadjar crashed the car into the wall in the opening phase of the race. Despite the crash, Mekies mainly sees that the car’s pace is there. “It was difficult, but I think the pace was there. It takes some time to analyze it properly, but I think it was a strong fight. The race pace was more competitive compared to what we had a few months ago,” Mekies said in the paddock.

The Red Bull team principal sees that the team is heading in the right direction based on the results in Saturday’s qualifying and the race. “It was difficult for Max to run on tires that were fifteen laps older than the rest of the field. He never gives up and we take a few points home. More important than the points is the indication we have about the race pace,” said Mekies.
