The starting grid for an F1 race is traditionally well filled with celebrities. This certainly applies to the Miami Grand Prix, where sports greats like Lionel Messi and Rafael Nadal look around in amazement. Regarding the race: Isack Hadjar has to start the race from the pit lane after his disqualification yesterday in the qualifying session. The weather does not look too bad so far compared to thunderstorms in the morning. The chance of rain during the race is estimated at forty percent.

LAP 1/57: What a start! Max Verstappen gets away reasonably well but goes over the curbs in the melee and makes a 360-degree spin. He miraculously is not hit but falls back to P9. Charles Leclerc is the luckiest and takes the lead.

LAP 4/57: As the first smoke clears, Leclerc is still leading, followed by Kimi Antonelli and Lando Norris respectively. Max Verstappen is in P8, behind Franco Colapinto.

LAP 5/57: It’s a back-and-forth battle at the front between Leclerc and Antonelli. The yo-yo racing continues.

Hadjar and Gasly in the wall

LAP 6/57: Isack Hadjar hits the wall after a sloppy turn-in mistake! And for Pierre Gasly, the race is over too; his Alpine is parked after contact with Lawson, half on a tire stack. In other words, a safety car! Lawson is clearly at fault for the incident, a reckless move by the New Zealander. Max Verstappen takes advantage of the situation to change tires. The mediums are swapped for the hard compound. He returns to the track in P16.

LAP 11/57: And we race again! Charles Leclerc leads the pack and makes no mistake at the restart. Behind him are Lando Norris, Kimi Antonelli, and George Russell. Max Verstappen is in P15 after a neat overtaking move on Lance Syroll, but the four-time world champion has already made a pit stop.

LAP 13/57: Lando Norris manages to take the lead with a nice maneuver at the expense of Charles Leclerc. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen has already moved up to P12. So far, he’s cutting through like a hot knife through butter.

Strong overtaking race by Verstappen

LAP 15/57: Norris is driving sovereignly in his McLaren at the front. Behind him, Kimi Antonelli tries to get closer. Behind them: Leclerc, Piastri, Russell, and Hamilton. Max Verstappen is now in P10. He’s showing good speed.

LAP 19/57: Max Verstappen has also overtaken Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz and is now in P8. Meanwhile, it is reported that the first rain shower is imminent…

LAP 21/57: It’s getting busier in the pit lane for the first stops. Partly because of this, Max Verstappen moves up to P5. He is much faster than Hamilton ahead of him; the gap between them is just under three seconds. Top 5 now: Norris, Antonelli, Piastri, Hamilton, Verstappen.

LAP 27/57: Max Verstappen passes Lewis Hamilton with a late braking move and immediately moves up to P3 because Kimi Antonelli also comes in for new tires. Norris leads, followed by Piastri and Hamilton.

LAP 28/57: Lando Norris makes a pit stop. Verstappen moves up to P2 as a result, with Antonelli (fast outlap) and Norris right behind him.

Verstappen briefly race leader

LAP 29/57: Piastri also comes in for his first stop. This allows Max Verstappen to call himself race leader for a moment, but it doesn’t last long. Antonelli passes him, helped by his new set of hard tires. Shortly after, the same happens to him with Lando Norris.

LAP 34/57: Antonelli complains over the radio about gearbox problems. For now, he manages to keep Norris at over a second. Max Verstappen is driving in no man’s land in P3, but it’s clear that the competition has the advantage of fresher rubber. At the back, Valtteri Bottas has received a time penalty for speeding in the pit lane. He is driving at the back in P18. The retirees so far: Hadjar, Gasly, Lawson, and Hülkenberg.

LAP 42/57: For many laps, Lando Norris has been trying to get within shooting distance of leader Antonelli, but the gap remains around a second. Max Verstappen is driving at a large distance, over 14 seconds, in P3. Behind him, Charles Leclerc is steadily closing in. And it’s still dry…

LAP 45/57: Kimi Antonelli distances himself from Lando Norris and seems to have the win within reach. That would be good for the championship, as his teammate and closest rival George Russell is currently only sixth.

Leclerc vs Verstappen

LAP 48/57: Max Verstappen’s tires have seen better days, and after many laps of pressure, Charles Leclerc manages to take advantage. The Monegasque from Ferrari is in P3, Verstappen fourth. Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri is lurking behind him.

LAP 49/57: Oscar Piastri also manages to outsmart Max Verstappen. The Dutchman’s tires are done; now it’s a matter of getting to the finish line without further damage. He is now in P5, with a margin of just under seven seconds to Russell.

LAP 55/57: George Russell is almost on Verstappen’s rear wing. Does the Brit dare to take risks and try something against his Dutch rival, keeping the championship standings in mind? There has been contact.

LAP 57/57: George Russell manages to pass Verstappen and take P5. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc spins and the Italian, who touches the wall, loses several positions. This allows Verstappen to gain a place at the last moment.

The big winner of the day is Kimi Antonelli, who crowns a flawless performance with the victory. Behind him, the McLarens claim the other two podium places. World champion Lando Norris is second, his teammate Oscar Piastri third. Max Verstappen can be satisfied with his fifth place after a sensational start.
