Max Verstappen started his first 24 hours of the Nürburgring adventure well. The Dutchman completed the most race laps during the first qualifying session for his team. Verstappen was even able to set the fastest race lap of the session in the Mercedes-AMG GT3, but in the end, Team Verstappen had to settle for third place. However, the starting position for the main race does not yet matter for Verstappen; the real qualifying for his team is scheduled for Friday.

Max Verstappen did not waste any time during his debut for the 24 hours of the Nürburgring and immediately took the wheel for the first qualifying session. The Dutchman immediately set the second fastest time, although the competition soon went under this first lap time of the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3. It does not matter to Verstappen: his team will only fight for pole position in the top class tomorrow. On Thursday, the Mercedes of the four-time world champion only has to complete two race laps.

Third time
After his first fast laps, the Dutchman went into the pit lane and drove out again around 2:00 PM. Verstappen then got into the groove and temporarily parked his Mercedes-AMG GT3 in P1 after an hour of training. The Dutchman was eight seconds faster than second place, the #1 BMW. With just over half an hour left in the first qualifying, Verstappen handed the car over to teammate Daniel Juncadella. Lucas Auer also took action briefly while the rain arrived over the circuit. In the end, two teams went under Verstappen’s fast time. The team closed the session, which also saw the first serious crash of the weekend, in third place.
