Max Verstappen will participate for the first time in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in May. The Dutchman will race in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 during his first endurance race. Although many fans are looking forward to the event on the Nordschleife, Juan Pablo Montoya does not think the ‘big boss at Ford’ is very happy with Verstappen’s choice of a Mercedes GT car. ‘If I were the big boss at Ford, I wouldn’t like seeing Verstappen at the Nürburgring in a Mercedes,’ said the former F1 driver.

Max Verstappen travels to the Nordschleife again between the Grands Prix of Miami and Canada. The 24 Hours of Nürburgring is scheduled for the weekend of May 16. It will be Verstappen’s first 24-hour race, although he has previously participated in endurance races on the famous ‘Green Hell’. The Dutchman competes in Formula 1 for Red Bull but will drive a Mercedes-AMG GT3 during the GT race.

Juan Pablo Montoya does not think Ford, which is collaborating with Red Bull for the first time this year under the name Red Bull Powertrains, is very happy with Verstappen’s choice to race a Mercedes on the Nordschleife. “If I were the big boss at Ford, I wouldn’t like seeing Verstappen at the Nürburgring while advertising for Mercedes,” Montoya told a betting website.

“If I were Red Bull and Ford, I would put pressure on Max not to drive a Mercedes, but a Ford GT3 or something similar,” the former F1 driver continued. “I don’t think the big boss at Ford would like it if he raced with Mercedes in the GT classes and thus advertised the Silver Arrows.”
