Max Verstappen will participate in the preparatory races for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring this coming weekend. But even preparatory races require some preparation, which is why the Dutchman was already in action on Friday. Verstappen revealed a day earlier that his adventures on the Nordschleife are not always welcomed with open arms at home: ‘Then Kelly said: do you really have to? And I said again: yes, I do.’

With no Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this weekend, Max Verstappen decided to travel to the Nordschleife Nürburgring instead. The Dutchman will participate in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in May and wants to gain some experience ahead of his participation in the endurance race. The NLS4 and NLS5 races, taking place next Saturday and Sunday respectively, offer the perfect opportunity for Verstappen to become even more familiar with the Mercedes-AMG GT3.

‘Kelly said then: do you really have to?’
Verstappen’s love for racing at the Nürburgring was also discussed a day earlier during Viaplay’s An Evening with Max Verstappen. In Theater Amsterdam, he revealed how he has to bring up his racing adventures on the famous German track at home. “Recently it was: hey, two Grands Prix are canceled in April! Then I had to say (to partner Kelly Piquet, ed.): yes, but…. Then she says: do you really have to? And I say again: yes, I do, haha.”
