George Russell says he is following Max Verstappen’s performances on the Nordschleife this season with great interest, but he will not be making such a trip in the coming years. The Mercedes driver does understand why the Dutchman does it, however.

“I do understand why it puts a smile on his face,” said Russell. “I myself have already done hundreds of laps on the Nordschleife in the simulator, I would also like to drive there. But right now I have a different goal and that is to become world champion in Formula 1.”

Since he has not achieved that, Russell is therefore not yet focusing on driving in other classes. “But if I had already won four titles, I would probably do the same as Max. But he is simply at a different stage of his career than I am right now.”
