The sim racing team, which was previously active under the name Team Redline, has recently continued as Verstappen Sim Racing. Through this name change, Max Verstappen wants to be broadly represented. During Een Avond met Max Verstappen, the Dutchman emphasized that sim racing helps to be able to compete in real race cars. “You see more and more young drivers racing, often in karting. But now you also see them driving Formula 4 or GT cars,” Verstappen told Viaplay in an interview.
‘No G-forces’
The four-time world champion indicated that many people do not realize what the sim racing team actually does in terms of preparations. “We have a complete strategy, especially with endurance races. It is really serious. The only difference is that you don’t feel G-forces. In a real car, you have to be fit and strong, but with sim racing, that is not necessary. For me, driving a real car feels more natural than in a sim,” said Verstappen.

Although not every sim driver will make the step to real motorsport, Verstappen sees that the opportunities have increased in recent years. “The transition to a real car therefore feels less big. Before Formula 4, I hadn’t really driven (in those cars, ed.). The switch now feels more natural, I think,” the Dutchman said.
‘New talents’
With Verstappen Sim Racing, the four-time world champion wants to focus on developing talents. “We try to build on and look for new talents whom we can give the chance to drive a race car. We can’t offer that to everyone, but there are many platforms to make that possible. We give people a chance to grow their career. The goal is to make professional racing drivers out of them,” said Verstappen.
