Max Verstappen lost many positions immediately at the start of the Miami GP. For the first time in 2026, the Dutchman started again from the front row, but already in the opening lap his Red Bull spun around. Miraculously, Verstappen was not hit by the rest of the field, although he had to resume his race from ninth place.

Verstappen initially got off to a good start, but locked up under braking for the first corner. In the second corner, he then spun on the kerbstones, but narrowly avoided the oncoming traffic. He was able to resume his race in ninth place. “Sorry guys,” came over the radio. Polesitter Kimi Antonelli also went straight on in the first corner and lost the lead to Charles Leclerc.
