The F3 race of the Spanish GP on Saturday evening in Madrid ended in chaos. Shortly after the start of the race at the Madring, there was a crash involving no less than six cars. The Formula 3 drivers appeared to be unharmed.
In the accident during the opening lap, it was especially bitter for Van Amersfoort Racing. The Dutch team was involved in the crash with two drivers. They collided with each other, causing even more collisions. The car of the Polish ART driver Maciej Gladysz even flew through the air.
After the race resumed, attention could be focused on the title battle between the Brit Freddie Slater and the American Ugo Ugochukwu. While Pedro Clerot won, Slater retired and Ugochukwu finished fourth. This means the fight for the F3 title is not over yet: the pair have the same number of points (141). The decision will be made on Sunday morning, when there is another race scheduled in Madrid: Ugochukwu has one more win than Slater this season, which is the tiebreaker in case of equal points.
