The Mercedes driver once again kept the pressure on his title rivals, although he had hoped for more. “I thought it was a fast lap, but he (Norris, ed.) snatched it right in front of me. But they (McLaren, ed.) did well.”
Antonelli had a strong qualifying session at the new circuit in Madrid, where conditions for the drivers were anything but easy. “It was a very intense qualifying. It was difficult to find the right balance because the track was so hot. But my lap was good, although it’s not easy to string everything together on a circuit like this,” Antonelli reflects.

“It’s just tricky. But we did well and now we have to see what we can do tomorrow.” With that, Antonelli is already looking ahead to the first Grand Prix at the new Madring, which starts tomorrow at 15:00.
