Lando Norris was over the moon after securing pole position in the qualifying for the Spanish GP. “This might have been my best lap ever,” he exclaimed afterwards in Madrid. “And I am in shock.”

The latter was understandable. Norris was certainly not the favorite going into qualifying, especially after the technical problems his McLaren car faced on Friday. “That’s why the pole position is quite a surprise for me,” said Norris.

The euphoria was no less for the Englishman. Already on the way to the pits, Norris’s cheer over the radio was telling. It was his third pole of the season and it offers prospects for a win on Sunday.
