For five weeks, there was no Formula 1 race on the schedule, but for a filming day at Silverstone, Max Verstappen was still allowed to sit in the RB22 for a moment. “It feels good to be back in the car after a short break,” the world champion says about his test day at Silverstone in the preview. “Although it is a filming day, it is nice to see everyone again. It is always pleasant to be back with the team and to get used to the speeds in the Formula 1 car again before we go to Miami. In that respect, it was a good day for me.”

‘Team has worked hard’

The GP Miami promises to be an important weekend for Red Bull. The team hopes to turn the tide after three disappointing Grands Prix starting from the race in Florida. Team principal Laurent Mekies had already stated that the team has made a ‘step forward with a view to the new rules from Miami’. From the Grand Prix in Florida, the new rule changes will apply. According to several sources, Red Bull has also reduced the overweight of the RB22 from twelve kilograms to six to seven kilograms.

Verstappen confirms the hard work of the Austrians. “I know we have had a fairly long break, but it was actually not a real break,” continues the world champion. “The team has worked hard to understand what we can improve on the car. I am very curious about what we can achieve in Miami. Hopefully, we can get a bit closer to the top three,” the Dutchman concludes cautiously optimistic.

Pink helmet

Verstappen is also bringing a special pink helmet just for the Miami Grand Prix. In addition to the pink base color, there are also blue and purple shades visible on the helmet. The driver chooses colors inspired by the city of Miami. View the helmet here:
