Valtteri Bottas has reflected on his Cadillac adventure so far. The Finn is driving for the American newcomer for the first time this year, and it has not been without its challenges. The team often fought alongside Aston Martin for the last spots on the grid. Still, Bottas saw an upward trend at Cadillac before the summer break: “I now feel that I am at the level I should be driving at.”

After a year on the sidelines as Mercedes reserve driver, Valtteri Bottas is back on the grid this season. The Finn is, together with teammate Sergio Pérez, a driver for newcomer Cadillac, which means he often finds himself at the back of the grid. For Bottas, his first eleven Grands Prix with the American team were a baptism of fire.
‘In the end, we always found answers’
“At the start of the year, we had quite a few problems with the car,” he honestly tells various media. “Sometimes I wasn’t exactly sure why I was lacking pace, but in the end, we always found answers, so that’s good.”

The Finn also saw an upward trend during the last Grands Prix before the summer break. “We are improving as a team,” he continues. “And, you know, as a driver you always try to get better. But yes, finally I feel that I am now at the level I should be driving at. I have learned a lot this year. We have solved many problems, fixed many mistakes, and there is certainly still a mountain of work ahead, from which we always learn more.”
