While the F1 calendar is uncertain due to the ongoing unrest in the Middle East, preparations for the arrival of Formula 1 in Qiddiya continue unabated. New footage of the spectacular circuit in the Saudi desert has been released on social media. The Saudi Arabian GP is set to move from the current circuit in Jeddah to the brand-new location from 2028, which features a hairpin turn at 70 meters high.

The layout of the 21-turn circuit was presented in March 2024. The highlight is located at the end of the straight, approaching the first corner. This curve is shaped after a historic Saudi sword and has therefore been named The Blade. The drivers head towards a slope, rise up to 70 meters high, and finally make a sharp turn at the height of a building of about twenty floors. This incredible construction will begin to take shape in mid-2026.
Presenter and commentator Ahmed Baokbah shared new footage of Qiddiya on social media. The runoff area after the first corner is so high that there is space under the circuit for a concert hall. Abdullah Aldawood, CEO of Qiddiya Investment Company, emphasized the scale of the plans earlier this year. “The circuit will be a true embodiment of Qiddiya’s power of play philosophy and position Qiddiya City as the home of Saudi motorsport and one of the world’s leading motorsport locations. Visitors and spectators will experience one of the most unique racing experiences in the world.”
