Red Bull is reportedly recruiting a key figure from Aston Martin to strengthen the racing team. According to multiple sources, Tom McCullough will leave the British team at the end of 2026 to join Red Bull as Head of Racing. This position is currently held within the Austrian team by Max Verstappen’s race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase.

In recent years, Red Bull has seen one key figure after another leave – from designer Adrian Newey to advisor Helmut Marko – but is now reportedly bringing in a top executive from Aston Martin. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, the German BILD reports that Tom McCullough is moving from Aston Martin to the Austrians. The British engineer is then said to take on the role of Head of Racing at Red Bull. This position is currently held by Gianpiero Lambiase.
Successor to Lambiase?
Various media outlets have already reported that McCullough, currently Performance Director at Aston Martin, will leave the British team after the current season. The exact reason for his departure and possible arrival at Red Bull is unclear. At the Austrian team, McCullough is reportedly going to be responsible for managing the technical staff at the circuit, a role that Lambiase currently combines with his role as Max Verstappen’s race engineer. Lambiase himself will leave Red Bull at the end of 2027 and move to McLaren.

McCullough is not the first key figure in recent times to reportedly switch to Red Bull. At the end of July, the Austrian team already secured Gwen Lagrue from Mercedes as the successor to Helmut Marko.
