Max Verstappen was obviously satisfied with the result immediately after his thrilling third place in Monza on Sunday. “I had some great battles, but top speed was not our best friend today,” Verstappen said in his first reaction on the grid to interviewer David Coulthard.

Max Verstappen’s third place was his fifth podium of the season. He finished in Monza behind winner Kimi Antonelli and his Mercedes teammate George Russell. Verstappen: “I tried to keep up, but they were too fast. With Overtake Mode, that was still possible, but once I lost contact and that advantage disappeared, I mainly tried to run my own race.”

In the final phase, Max Verstappen went straight on once while braking. “That was a little moment. After that, the McLarens were in my mirrors. I was then able to pull away. In the end, I am satisfied with P3,” said Verstappen, last year’s winner in Monza.
