In the future, the Zandvoort circuit will get a Verstappen corner, as a tribute to Max (and Jos) Verstappen. Circuit director and co-owner Robert van Overdijk reiterated this last week ahead of the final Dutch GP, coming Sunday in Zandvoort. Max Verstappen has already expressed in an exclusive interview with FORMULA 1 Magazine which corner is his favorite.

The four-time world champion from Red Bull, who has extended his contract with the Austrian team until 2030, calls the fast corners in sector two of the Zandvoort circuit the best part. “The Scheivlak and the Masters corner. Just the fast corners,” says Max Verstappen.

– And the banked corner before start/finish, the Arie Luyendijk corner?
Max Verstappen: “That banked corner is full throttle. Nicely built, but in terms of driving… well, you go through it full throttle. Because of that, it’s a bit less challenging. The old corner was just a bit harder. It was just about, just not full throttle. Now it’s easy. Just full throttle. And that was of course done deliberately to try to create overtaking opportunities in corner 1. Because in the past, you couldn’t follow well in that last corner and therefore couldn’t overtake.”
