Max Verstappen secured his third podium of the season at Spa-Francorchamps. The Dutchman started from second place but quickly saw how winner Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Charles Leclerc were a class above. Verstappen is therefore cautiously satisfied after the race: ‘I gave everything I had, so third place is good.’

The four-time world champion started the race from second place. For a brief moment, he even took the lead in the first lap, but soon Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Charles Leclerc passed Verstappen again. Although the order of the top three changed several times during the race, it was also those same Kimi Antonelli and Leclerc who finished on the podium ahead of Verstappen.
‘Gave everything’
“Yes, I think so,” Verstappen says honestly when asked after the race if he is ultimately satisfied with his third podium place. “I did everything I could in the race. The first stint went okay, but the second stint was more difficult. Kimi and I both had bad luck with the virtual safety car. So being on the podium now is a good result. I gave everything I had, so third place is good.”
