In the interview, Raymond Vermeulen shares a hilarious anecdote about the Friday practice session that Max Verstappen, as a 17-year-old boy, was allowed to do in 2014 on behalf of Scuderia Toro Rosso in Brazil in preparation for his debut season in Formula 1 in 2015.

Raymond Vermeulen “We had 0.0 budget and for that reason we took one hotel room for the three of us in Hotel Transamerica in São Paulo. With three single beds. A cot was arranged for Max, a kind of stretcher. He lay at our feet and, of course, went to bed on time that Thursday, while Jos and I went for a drink. We came back to the room a bit later and perhaps made a little too much noise. Max woke up and asked: ‘Dad, can you be a bit quieter, because I have to drive tomorrow?’ How did Jos react? Something along the lines of: ‘Don’t complain, everything will be fine.’ That shows how we did it, we relied on each other. We just had a lot of fun. Still happy, fortunately.”
