Former Mercedes top executive Mike Elliott is joining Alpine. The French team announced this on Thursday. Elliott had previously worked for the Enstone-based team, but more recently was employed by the Silver Arrows. At the end of 2023, he left Mercedes for ‘new adventures’, which he now seems to have found at Alpine.

Mike Elliott was employed by Mercedes for many years. Until 2023, the British aerodynamicist also held the role of Chief Technical Officer at the Silver Arrows. At the end of that Formula 1 season, the technical team chief at Mercedes decided to leave for ‘new adventures’. Elliott now seems to have found these at Alpine.
‘Bridging the gap to the top together’
At the French team, the Brit will also take on the role of Chief Technical Officer. In this role, Elliott will ‘lead and oversee the technical and engineering departments in Enstone’. Elliott had previously worked for the team: between 2008 and 2012 he was the Principal Aerodynamist. The Brit also previously worked at McLaren. Alpine hopes that with Elliott as the newest addition to the team, they can ‘continue to build on on-track performance and bridge the gap to the top four teams’.
