Former Red Bull driver David Coulthard compliments Lando Norris for the way he handled the Cola request after the Spanish GP. The driver was asked in the cooldown room to put his can away, but he refused. “Well done to Lando for standing his ground,” says Coulthard.

After the Spanish GP, Lando Norris took a can of Cola into the cooldown room. However, the company behind the soft drink is not an official sponsor of Formula 1, unlike its biggest competitor Pepsi. The driver was therefore asked to put the drink away. “I just raced, so I can drink whatever I want. Thank you very much,” was the McLaren driver’s response to the request.
‘Well done, Lando’
David Coulthard is a fan of the way Norris rejected the request. “Well done, Lando, for standing his ground,” said the Scot on the Up To Speed podcast. “I’ve only seen those kinds of texts where someone tried to tell him he shouldn’t drink a certain kind of drink in a certain room, and he said: ‘Hey mate, I just raced a Grand Prix. I’m going to do what I want to do’.”

“Good for him, because you know what? He has earned the right to eat that chocolate bar or drink that carbonated drink, whatever it is,” continues the former Red Bull driver. “Bugger off and stop trying to control everything.”
