Liam Lawson and Fernando Alonso will start the Italian GP on Sunday from the pit lane. Both Red Bull and Aston Martin have made changes to the cars that are not allowed under parc fermé rules. Lawson – who is again substituting this weekend for the injured Isack Hadjar – had to start at the back in Monza anyway due to an engine change.

Lawson previously received a penalty for the engine change and would therefore start the race from P22. Red Bull then replaced the rear wing of his RB22 and made adjustments to the suspension. Because these works are not allowed after qualifying and during the parc fermé period, the New Zealander must start the race from the pit lane.

Alonso also cannot avoid starting from the pit lane. Aston Martin has chosen to replace the MGU-K, the energy storage, and the control electronics of his car. This exceeded the allocated number of parts for the Spaniard. Because the changes were made under parc fermé, Alonso must also start from the pit lane. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who must limit the damage this home weekend due to the same grid penalty, benefits somewhat and moves up to P19.
