“It’s good to be back on pole. It wasn’t an easy session, the track kept changing. But we were able to improve each lap and take pole,” said the Mercedes driver immediately after his dominant performance in qualifying at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. “My last lap was good, I’m very happy with it. I improved well in sector two, although there was still some room for improvement here and there.”

For the leader in the world championship, this marks his sixth pole of the season. Antonelli realizes that pole position in Belgium does not guarantee success in the race. “Tomorrow is another day. Max starts next to me, so a good start is very important.”
