Red Bull decided to give the French-Algerian driver, like teammate Max Verstappen, a new engine for the Grand Prix weekend. Unlike his teammate, the team exceeds the allowed number of engine components for Hadjar, causing the driver to start at the back of the field on Sunday.

The official FIA document states that Isack Hadjar, like Max Verstappen, receives a new combustion engine, turbocharger, and exhaust set, among other parts. For the driver, each part is the fifth example, while the governing body only allows four parts. As a result, Hadjar receives a significant grid penalty and must start the race at the back of the grid on Sunday.

Red Bull is not the only team choosing a grid penalty for their driver at Spa-Francorchamps. Earlier, McLaren announced that Lando Norris would receive a ten-place grid penalty for the Belgian GP. Lance Stroll also exceeds the maximum allowed number of parts with the new Motor Generator Unit-Kinetic (MGU-K) for his Aston Martin car.
