“If you look at the race pace this was a good result. Lando had bad luck at the start of the race with the VSC situation. P2 is an incredible result for us. You could see that Lando was faster in his car, but here you simply cannot overtake,” Max Verstappen said immediately after the race on the grid in Madrid.

Verstappen had already indicated before the race that overtaking on the new Madring is very difficult and that proved true on Sunday during the 57-lap race.
