A few days after his brutal crash in the opening phase of the Italian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc has made himself heard. The Monegasque crashed at the Monza circuit with an impact of 23G. Ferrari fans were worried about his condition this week, on Tuesday Leclerc provided clarity via social media.

“This is not how I wanted the weekend to go,” writes the driver from Monaco on Instagram. “Physically it was a heavy blow, but I am okay. Emotionally it hurts even more that something like this happened here at home, for all of you, the fans.”
With his message, he thanks the public and apologizes for the early exit in Italy. “Thank you very much for the fantastic welcome and support throughout the weekend. Monza with you is always something special.”

Concerns about the engine
The race weekend was chaotic for Leclerc. After a fierce duel with Lewis Hamilton, things went wrong already in the second lap. Just like after his home race in Monaco, Leclerc wants to quickly put this incident behind him, because the next challenge is already approaching: the demanding Madring.
At Ferrari, everything now revolves around the damage to the SF-26. Especially preserving the engine is crucial. The team placed a lot of hope on this unit. If Ferrari has to replace the power unit, Leclerc will receive a grid penalty in the Spanish race.
