Podium customers receive this special trophy during GP Italy: ‘Cups and plates’

The podium ceremony of the Italian GP gets a special artistic touch this year. The three drivers who appear on the podium on Sunday will receive FRAGILE: a special trophy designed specifically for the Italian Grand Prix by the artist duo vedovamazzei. The trophy is made up of everyday household objects, including cups and small bowls.

The trophies for the Italian Grand Prix have been designed for years by Italian artists as part of a multi-year project. For the 2026 edition, the commission went to Stella Scala and Simeone Crispino, who together form the duo vedovamazzei. “FRAGILE consists of a layered composition of everyday household objects, with cups and small bowls stacked on top of each other,” said Pirelli in an official press release. This creates an ‘unstable’, vertical shape.

Festive trophy

For the production, the sketches were first developed in the traditional way, after which the trophy was made using a 3D printing process from nylon powder. The material was then painted, galvanized, and polished, giving it a reflective finish. “The idea for the trophy comes from the centuries-old tradition of passing on a drinking cup,” the artists explain. “This created a sense of shared celebration and festivity.”

“We wanted the trophy to symbolize a victory held by an individual, but at the same time reflect the spirit of a community,” they add. “In the case of Formula 1, this community includes the team, the fans, and the whole world revolving around the drivers.”
