Andrea Stella is happy with a one-two for McLaren during the sprint race in Miami, but according to the team principal, the weekend was primarily dedicated to Alex Zanardi – the former Formula 1 driver who passed away. “I would like to take a moment to pause and pay tribute to Alex Zanardi. A very special man, driver, and athlete and a true symbol. An example of what it means to love life. He was an inspiration to many. This victory is for him,” Stella said in the paddock.
‘Clean air’
According to Stella, the upgrades have made the team more competitive. “It’s good to start races and sprint races with upgrades that make us more competitive. It’s important to confirm that they work, as we already saw over one lap on Friday. Today it was mainly about evaluating them in long runs and warm conditions,” said the McLaren team principal.

Although Stella is positive about the sprint race, the position you raced in was also decisive. “No one knew how the tire wear would turn out, but it seems the car is doing well. So far the signals are good, but everyone was very close together. I think Lando benefited from the clean air. Probably the one who was leading could have won the sprint race. We will see more in a few hours during qualifying,” Stella concluded.
