Gabriel Bortoleto has also been removed from the results list for the sprint race in Miami. The Audi driver has been disqualified for a violation of the technical regulations. The Brazilian crossed the finish line in eleventh place, but during the technical inspections after the session it was revealed that the engine air intake exceeded the allowed limit of 4.8 bar.

Gabriel Bortoleto finished outside the top eight of the sprint race with his eleventh place, meaning the driver had not scored any championship points. Teammate Nico Hülkenberg was not able to start at all, when a fire broke out in his Audi car on the way to the grid.

FIA explains

“To mitigate, the Audi team explained that the exceedance occurred during one lap. This happened when temperatures rose higher than they had expected,” reads further in the official statement from the FIA. “As soon as this became clear, the team took measures to bring the pressure back in line with the regulations.”

“Although it is acknowledged that they took measures to bring the car back into compliance with the regulations, the regulations make it clear that the car must be in compliance ‘at all times.’ That was not the case,” the FIA continues. “Since this concerns a technical violation, the usual penalty of disqualification of car 5 from the sprint classification has been applied.”
