The final edition of the Dutch GP is just around the corner! Max Verstappen will take action one last time in front of his home crowd before Zandvoort disappears from the calendar in 2027. The organization behind the Dutch Grand Prix is therefore presenting a double sprint weekend. The weather gods also seem to be contributing: the weather forecast for the last Dutch GP at Zandvoort promises a lot of rain, which would be a first in the 2026 F1 season.

In the first half of the season, rain was predicted several times for various F1 weekends, but during the official sessions it always remained dry. The Miami GP was expected to be a spectacular rain race, but at the crucial moment the weather gods failed. As a result, the new cars have not yet been tested in wet conditions. A disappointment for, for example, Max Verstappen, who has repeatedly proven that he can make a difference in the rain.
During his home race, that seems set to change. The weather forecast is of course subject to change, but for now it looks like it will be soaking wet in Zandvoort this coming weekend. The summer sun that held the Netherlands in its grip over the past month is already giving way this week to a gray cloud cover and some showers. Because the last Grand Prix in the Netherlands is centered around the sprint format, only one free practice session will be held on Friday. After that, the sprint qualifying is immediately on the schedule. On Super Friday, as the organization has dubbed this opening day, it promises to be drizzly right away in Zandvoort. It will remain cloudy all day and the temperature will rise to a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius. The current chance of precipitation is already 90 percent.

On Saturday, the many thousands of F1 fans can expect even more spectacle, in the form of the first sprint race at Zandvoort and the regular qualifying. It will remain cloudy and the temperature will be around 19 degrees at and around the dune circuit. Although most of the rain will fall in the morning hours, it will remain wet all Saturday in North Holland. The chance of a shower remains 90 percent for now.
During the race on Sunday, it will clear up a bit, although the chance of rain is still 80 percent. According to the latest reports, it will be a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius when Formula 1 races over Zandvoort for the last time. It would not be the first time that the Dutch GP turns into a rain race. In 2023, Verstappen was already dominant during a chaotic water ballet at his home circuit. That promises something for this final edition!
