The IndyCar race for Rinus ‘VeeKay’ van Kalmthout at Phoenix Raceway took an unwanted turn as early as lap eleven. The driver encountered Alex Palou on the track, when the Spanish driver collided with the Dutchman. Palou, the then-leader in the IndyCar championship, subsequently hit the wall and could no longer finish his race. ‘VeeKay’ was able to continue, but could no longer compete for the victory.
