A dubious honor for Arvid Lindblad: the Racing Bulls driver causes the first red flag in the second free practice on the Madring. Ahead of the weekend, it was already expected that sessions on the brand-new F1 circuit would regularly have to be stopped due to crashes by drivers. During the first free practice, this did not happen, but in FP2 Lindblad did end up in the barriers.

Arvid Lindblad lost control of his Racing Bulls car in turn thirteen, before suddenly coming to a stop against the barriers. Fortunately, the rookie remained unharmed. The session had to be stopped – for the first time this weekend for Formula 1. Earlier, Formula 2 had already been plagued by red flags.
