Max Verstappen’s team starts the 24 Hours of Nürburgring from the second row. Teammate Daniel Juncadella managed to drive the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 to fourth place during the decisive Top Qualifying 3, behind two Lamborghinis and Christopher Haase’s Audi. Pole position went to Luca Engstler in the #84 Lamborghini ABT.

During the final and decisive top qualifying session, Top Qualifying 3, for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, it was Daniel Juncadella’s turn to get behind the wheel of the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3. Earlier, Lucas Auer, during Top Qualifying 1, and Max Verstappen, Top Qualifying 2, had already taken two qualifying sessions. The session started under dry conditions, but the threat of rain is never far away on the Nordschleife.

The twelve participants in Top Qualifying 3 were sent out every fifteen seconds, so they basically had no traffic issues. Juncadella’s first fast lap was good enough for provisional ninth place. The driver was a full 6.8 seconds slower than provisional polesitter Marco Mapelli. Verstappen’s Spanish teammate improved by seven seconds in the second fast lap. This ultimately earned Team Verstappen a fourth starting position, behind two Lamborghinis and Christopher Haase’s Audi. Pole position went to Luca Engstler in the #84 Lamborghini ABT.
