The organization behind the Madring seems to have heard the criticism from the drivers. Several sources report that there are already plans at the FIA to modify the Spanish circuit in three places. More overtaking spots should be created for the drivers when they return to the Spanish capital in 2027.

Before the Spanish Grand Prix weekend, there was still fear of a red flag storm at the Madring. The new circuit had only been tested by Formula 3. During that test session, the red flag was waved no less than nineteen times. However, a repeat during the Formula 1 race did not occur. The Grand Prix was later even labeled boring by many fans and the drivers themselves due to the lack of overtaking moves. Several sources report that only four times a driver was able to pass his predecessor after the first lap, six times fewer than during the Monaco GP.
‘Madring wants to modify three places’
The organization behind the Madring has, however, heard the criticism. According to The Race, plans are slowly being made to modify the circuit in three places. The first place would be the approach to the chicane at turns 5/6. The plan is to widen this and adjust it so that drivers can better fight for positions. The placement of the kerbstones caused two cars not to be able to drive neatly side by side during the last race weekend.
The second place would be the left turn immediately after ‘La Monumental’. Because it is a medium-speed corner, it is difficult for drivers to execute an overtaking maneuver here. The plan is therefore to make this sharper. The third place would be turn twenty, with the plan to widen it. This way, drivers can make an overtaking move without the fear of missing the exit.

According to The Race, these plans were already with the FIA before the start of the first race weekend at the Madring. Due to the complexity of circuit simulations and the time needed to go through a homologation procedure, it was decided to wait with the plans until 2027.
