Max Verstappen on contract extension with Red Bull: ‘The team is like a second family’

Max Verstappen has responded for the first time to his contract extension. On the Thursday before his very last home race, the Dutch GP at Zandvoort, the four-time world champion announced that he will stay with Red Bull until 2030.

“I am incredibly happy with the contract extension,” Max Verstappen says in the official press release. “We have the best people and I look forward to continuing to push together with everyone to get back to the top. That remains the ultimate goal we are all working towards and will continue to pursue. I want to thank Red Bull, Laurent, and everyone at Oracle Red Bull Racing for the trust they have placed in me.”

‘Second family’

“I have always said: the team is like a second family to me and I feel completely at home there,” continues the four-time world champion. “I joined the team hoping to win races. What we have achieved together is just ‘simply lovely’. We have experienced many incredible moments and won four world titles. To continue this journey with the same team I have driven for my entire career is very special and something I have always wanted.”

“It’s fantastic to have been working with Laurent for more than a year now. I see a clear vision that he has for the team,” the Red Bull driver continues. “Everyone in Milton Keynes believes in what we are building and I look forward to the next chapter, fighting for more wins and championships, while continuing to shape the future of this team. It is also a great moment for me to make this announcement during the last Grand Prix at Zandvoort. Hopefully, we can give the fans a special farewell for the final race.”
