Max Verstappen still has a contract with Red Bull until 2028, but has been linked for years to a move to another team. Last year it was Mercedes, when team boss Toto Wolff launched a charm offensive towards the Dutch driver. Aston Martin was also mentioned, but a season later it is McLaren’s turn. According to various sources, there has already been contact between Verstappen and the British team.
Oscar Piastri is reportedly seen as the ideal successor to Verstappen at Red Bull, should the four-time world champion indeed leave the team. According to Autosport, Piastri’s manager and former Red Bull driver Mark Webber has already approached the Austrians. The Australian still has a contract with McLaren until the end of 2027.

Driver swap?
Multiple sources in the paddock are now talking about a rumor that there might be a driver swap between Verstappen and Piastri. As early as 2028, the Dutch world champion would reportedly move to McLaren, while the Australian would start at Red Bull. How likely it is that this swap will actually happen remains to be seen.
