Some beautiful overtakes on the outside of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell earned Leclerc a fine podium finish. “They were nice battles and I was able to gain some positions. Then it wasn’t enough to catch Oscar Piastri as well. But this was a nice race.”

Earlier in the race, Leclerc still feared for a good result. “I was unlucky with the timing of the safety car, so I had to pay more attention to the tires than expected. In the end, it didn’t even turn out to be a big disadvantage and they stayed quite good.”
