Lando Norris quickly put the disappointing result of the Canadian GP behind him by heading straight to the United States after the race for a get-together with Daniel Ricciardo and IndyCar driver Conor Daly. While Norris experienced a frustrating afternoon at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Ricciardo and Daly enjoyed the atmosphere around the iconic Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The race in Canada seemed promising for Norris at first. McLaren surprisingly chose intermediates at the start, a gamble that initially paid off perfectly. The Brit shot straight to the lead from third on the grid and had already built up a lead of about two seconds over the competition after the opening lap. However, Norris could not enjoy his strong opening phase for long. When the expected rain did not arrive, the choice for wet tires turned out to be a wrong call by McLaren.
Norris fell far back in the standings, after which a mechanical failure definitively ended his race. No points then for the reigning world champion. Meanwhile, former teammate Daniel Ricciardo, more than 1300 kilometers away, experienced his first Indy 500 as a spectator. During the IndyCar weekend, he hung out with Conor Daly, who later also joined him and Norris in Indianapolis. Daly shared a joint photo on social media afterwards. “Just a couple of guys enjoying the Indy 500,” read the caption. The American finished twelfth in the iconic oval race.
