Lando Norris condemns Verstappen's driving style in Miami: ‘Ruined his own race’

Current world champion Lando Norris clashed again with rival Max Verstappen during the Miami GP. The Brit was unimpressed by the Dutchman’s defensive tactics. Ultimately, he managed to pass the Red Bull and drove on to second place. In the cooldown room, Norris was shown the footage of the battle with Verstappen once again — which led to strong criticism.

Carlos Sainz had already expressed during the race that Verstappen’s driving style did not sit well with him. While the Red Bull driver was making his way through the midfield, he also encountered the Williams of the Spaniard. “He (Verstappen, ed.) pushed me off,” Sainz fumed after being overtaken. “He thinks he can just do anything because he races in the midfield.” George Russell also accused Verstappen of an unnecessary divebomb.

In the cooldown room, Norris took it a step further. Together with race winner Kimi Antonelli and teammate Oscar Piastri, he analyzed the footage on the TV screen. The duel between Norris and Verstappen also came up. “No idea what Max was doing there,” was the reigning world champion’s comment. “He ruined his own race with that.” Norris was presumably referring to the fact that Verstappen lost a lot of time fiercely defending his position — time he could have used later in the fight for P4.
