Jolyon Palmer has confidence in Red Bull: ‘Will finish above Haas and Alpine’

Jolyon Palmer expects Red Bull to recover later this season in the constructors’ championship. Ultimately, the Austrian team will beat Haas and Alpine. Despite the difficult start to the season, the former Formula 1 driver sees potential in the team. “There are a lot of resources available there and you really get the feeling that once it gets going, they will come out ahead of Haas and Alpine,” said Palmer.

Former Formula 1 driver Jolyon Palmer is confident that Red Bull will fight back in the constructors’ championship. At the moment, the team is sixth in the standings with sixteen points, equal with Alpine and two points behind Haas. Due to the forced break, teams were able to develop. “With the resources Red Bull has, you don’t want to give them a month to analyze data, work on the car, and bring new parts,” Palmer said in the F1 Nation podcast.

‘Getting going’

According to Palmer, many key figures have left the Austrian team, but that does not mean Red Bull will stop developing. “I know a lot of people have left, and we made an entire podcast about Gianpiero Lambiase and his departure, but they still have it in them. There are a lot of resources available there and you really get the feeling that once it gets going, they will come out ahead of Haas and Alpine,” emphasized the Brit.

Although the former Renault driver sees a positive future for Red Bull, he also notes that other teams – like Alpine – are not standing still. “Alpine indicated at the start of the season that they would implement major updates at regular intervals. I believe there will be one in Miami as well, they are playing the long game this year. Maybe they can keep challenging Red Bull for now, but you just feel that as soon as Red Bull realizes it, they have the foundation to be much faster than they have shown so far,” Palmer said.
