Isack Hadjar has to miss the Dutch GP. A few days before the first sessions at Zandvoort, Red Bull announced that the 21-year-old driver suffered a wrist injury and therefore cannot participate. Hadjar was spotted at the circuit on Friday, where Liam Lawson is temporarily serving on behalf of Red Bull. According to the latest reports, there is a good chance that the Frenchman will be back behind the wheel himself during the next GP in Italy.
In the run-up to the Dutch Grand Prix and the start of the second half of the season, Red Bull announced that there would be a musical chairs situation. The injured Hadjar makes way for Liam Lawson, whose seat at Racing Bulls is temporarily filled by Yuki Tsunoda. Coincidentally, Daniel Ricciardo broke his wrist three years ago after a crash at Zandvoort, which also led to Lawson being called up for a number of substitute appearances. The Australian had to watch from the sidelines for no less than five races at that time.

Reportedly, Hadjar is not in such bad shape. According to Sky Sports, it is a minor fracture and he will probably be able to participate in the Italian Grand Prix in two weeks. “Isack (Hadjar, ed.) sustained the injury during a routine training session,” the outlet reports. “He did nothing other than what he always does in the gym. He boxes a bit and noticed the next day that his wrist was a bit sensitive.”

“The team doctor found a hairline crack. In consultation with a hand specialist, it was decided not to let him race as a precaution. They want to prevent it from getting worse. The expectation is that he – with a bit of luck – will simply be back in Monza.” Hadjar has not only sought advice from medical specialists. The French Canal+ reports that MotoGP icon Marc Márquez also advised him against getting in the car.
