Isack Hadjar will also miss the Italian GP, Red Bull confirmed Wednesday afternoon. The 21-year-old Parisian is still struggling with a wrist injury and is not fit enough to compete in Monza. Liam Lawson, who previously stepped in during the Dutch GP at Zandvoort, will once again take the seat alongside Max Verstappen. According to team principal Laurent Mekies, Hadjar is making good progress, but the team does not want to take any risks with his recovery.

For Lawson, this means a new opportunity at Red Bull, barely two weeks after he was unexpectedly called up at Zandvoort. The New Zealander, who was demoted from the main team after just two Grands Prix last year, impressed the team management there. He qualified eighth, one place behind Verstappen, and then finished seventh in the race. Verstappen did not finish after a crash in the opening lap.
Before his injury troubles, Hadjar had a promising first half of the season at Red Bull. The Frenchman regularly scored points and is currently eighth in the world championship. When he will make his return is not yet known. “We are closely monitoring his rehabilitation and are not taking unnecessary risks with his comeback,” the Austrian team said via official channels. Test and reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda, who filled in for Lawson at Zandvoort in the Racing Bulls seat, will also compete again in Monza.
