Christopher Haase, together with Alexander Sims and Ben Green, won the second qualifying race for the Nürburgring 24 Hours on Sunday. The German also had a spectacular battle with Max Verstappen in the opening phase of the four-hour race. Due to damage to the car, Verstappen and his teammate Lucas Auer finished 39th.
Haase, competing in the Audi R8 LMS GT3, encountered Verstappen in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 early in the race. Both drivers immediately put pressure on Dennis Marschall. Verstappen struck first, outsmarting both Marschall and Haase in one move. The Audi driver didn’t let that stand and immediately launched an attack on the four-time Red Bull world champion.

Then followed a sensational wheel-to-wheel battle. Haase and Verstappen drove side-by-side through the corners of the Nürburgring multiple times, but Verstappen always held his ground skillfully. After an hour, Haase’s stint came to an end. Verstappen continued for another half hour but then had to park his car due to damage (a broken front splitter). The repair took a lot of time. Eventually, Auer got back in and was flagged 39th.
