Former champion Alain Prost victim of robbery, sustains head injuries

Alain Prost became the victim of a robbery on Tuesday at his villa in Nyon, on Lake Geneva, according to the Swiss press. The home of the four-time Formula 1 champion was broken into early in the morning. The perpetrators are said to have stolen the contents of a safe; the value of the stolen goods is not yet known. Prost reportedly sustained minor head injuries during the burglary. The suspects are still at large.

Around 8:30 a.m., a group of masked robbers broke into Alain Prost’s villa, writes the Swiss Blick. Violence was reportedly used immediately, during which the 71-year-old Prost sustained minor head injuries. One of his sons was then forced under threat to open a safe and hand over its contents. The family has not yet issued an official statement; however, experts have been engaged to assist them. A medical team had to be called to the scene, according to a press release.

The newspaper further reports that the robbers likely fled to France. Police and highway checks have so far yielded nothing. Prost is said to have since returned to his home in Dubai, where he spends most of the year. The Swiss authorities have launched a criminal investigation.

The perpetrators presumably targeted luxury goods, mainly watches. Such a robbery is not isolated in the region; homes in French-speaking Switzerland are regularly targeted by criminals. In 2025 alone, eighteen similar robberies were recorded in the Geneva area, often committed by highly organized gangs focusing on prestigious watch collections.
