Former Alpine team principal Szafnauer new CEO at Van Amersfoort Racing

Otmar Szafnauer is officially returning to motorsport. The former Alpine team principal left the French team in July 2023 – shortly after the Belgian GP – and has been little active in racing categories since then. On Wednesday, it was announced that he will start as CEO and managing partner at Van Amersfoort Racing in Formula 2.

Otmar Szafnauer is joining Van Amersfoort Racing to help the team with ‘the next phase in the development’ of the racing stable. In addition to CEO, the Romanian-American also takes on the role of managing partner. Szafnauer himself is very much looking forward to getting started in Formula 2.

‘Strong reputation’

“Van Amersfoort Racing has a strong reputation for talent development and competing at a high level in multiple categories,” Szafnauer said in the official press release. “I look forward to working closely with the management team and the rest of the organization to guide the next phase of the team’s development.”
