Sebastian Vettel and Rubens Barrichello both make a brief return for the Italian GP, Ferrari announced in a press release. The former Ferrari drivers will each do a day of demo laps during the race weekend in the old cars of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. Earlier, the team from Maranello also announced a special livery for the upcoming race.

Three different cars from Schumacher’s era will be exhibited at the Monza circuit this coming weekend. His debut car, the 1996 Ferrari F310, will be present, as well as the 248 F1 (2006) and the F2002. The latter is one of the most iconic cars from the German’s career; with it, he claimed his fifth world title in July with six races still to go.
Familiar faces return
Barrichello, Schumacher’s teammate between 2000 and 2004, will take the wheel of the F2002 on Saturday. The Brazilian won four races in 2002 with that same car and finished second in the championship. Ferrari won a total of fifteen of the seventeen races held that year.

Vettel will take a seat in that same car of his idol on Sunday before the race. The four-time world champion has always greatly admired the German and himself raced for the Scuderia for six seasons between 2015 and 2020.
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton’s SF-26 will be specially presented in a special livery for the upcoming weekend. The SF-26 has received a ‘new’ color and is completely red, based on the cars from Schumacher’s era. Ferrari is hunting for their third victory of this season with this car.
