Esteban Ocon still does not have a contract in Formula 1 for 2027. The Frenchman’s contract with Haas expires after this season. Ahead of the Spanish GP, Ocon says during the press conference that talks are underway about his future with the American racing team.

“We have started talks about the future in recent weeks,” Ocon says. “In 2025, I was persuaded by Ayao (Komatsu, ed.) to come help with this Haas project and of course there will be follow-up talks after that.”
Ocon’s future at Haas is anything but certain. The team from Kannapolis is exploring all options and held a TPC session (Testing of Previous Cars) at the Portimão circuit at the end of August. During this test, Ryo Hirakawa, Leonardo Fornaroli, and Rafael Câmara took a seat behind the wheel.

Ocon himself is not unsettled by this. “It is the team’s right to organize these kinds of sessions. We simply have a fixed program for this during the season and we also learn from it.”
However, the 29-year-old driver also points to the car as the reason why the results are not as good as at the start of the season. “The drivers are not the problem for the fewer points we are scoring now. We all try to get the maximum out of the car and make it a bit better every weekend.”
