Drive to Survive shares titles of new episodes, finale revolves around ‘Chucky’ Verstappen

This week, the eighth season of Netflix’s docuseries Drive to Survive premieres. The new series follows the 2025 F1 season and promises to offer fans another unique look behind the scenes. Little is known about the content yet, although Netflix has already announced the episode titles. Some of these immediately stand out, including the season finale, which undoubtedly relates to the title battle between Max Verstappen and both McLaren drivers.

On Tuesday, Netflix and Formula 1 presented the episode titles for the latest season of Drive to Survive. The season opener, New Kids on the Track, presumably follows the five rookies who moved up to Formula 1 in 2025. Other high-profile titles include The Number 1 Problem, which possibly refers to the internal battle between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, and A Bull With No Horns. Reportedly, that fourth episode revolves around the dismissal of Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, who has played a prominent role in the series in recent years.

‘Call me Chucky’

The season finale, titled Call Me Chucky, perhaps stands out the most. This episode presumably focuses on the climax of the championship and the rivalry between Max Verstappen and McLaren. Zak Brown was a guest on the Sports Agents podcast last year, where he spoke about the thrilling title battle. “He (Verstappen, ed.) is just like those guys in horror movies,” Brown joked. “Just when you think he can’t come back, he suddenly stands up again.”

In the penultimate race, the Dutchman immediately lived up to that comparison. He started behind both McLarens but eventually crossed the finish line first. The four-time world champion reduced the gap to championship leader Lando Norris to twelve points. Verstappen could laugh heartily at Brown’s comparison afterwards and gave himself the nickname ‘Chucky’, after the antagonist from the well-known Child’s Play horror series. That statement is now immortalized on Netflix. The eighth season premieres on February 27.
