Oscar Piastri also has to sit out the Chinese Grand Prix, after the McLaren driver was wheeled back to the garage just before the start. The Australian was originally supposed to start the race from fifth position, but his car was missing from the starting grid at the last moment. Just like teammate Lando Norris, he will not be in action in Shanghai.

The intervention came shortly after McLaren had already identified electrical problems with Norris’s car. Although the team has not yet given an official explanation regarding Piastri’s situation, the paddock expects a similar problem with the MCL40. Both cars were in the garage during the final phase of preparations, while the other drivers were getting ready for the formation lap.

Because the pit lane was closed when the problems came to light, both Norris and Piastri were required to start the race from the pit lane. However, neither saw any action. It means a dramatic day for the papayas in Shanghai.
