The Cadillac F1 team is bringing another upgrade package for the MAC-26 during the race weekend in Canada. After the first major update in Miami, a new step in the development of the car follows immediately in Montréal. According to driver Sergio Pérez, the new team is in a ‘huge hurry’ to improve performance, hoping to catch up with, among others, Aston Martin. All to prevent the team from becoming the backmarker in Cadillac’s first F1 season.

The pressure to improve is high, especially in direct comparison with Aston Martin. “We are in a huge hurry to improve performance because we know Aston Martin will improve and we don’t want to fall behind,” said Sergio Pérez after the Miami GP. That urgency goes hand in hand with satisfaction about the first steps the team has taken this year, although according to the Mexican it remains mainly a matter of further development and fine-tuning.
“Miami was an important boost for us,” Pérez continued. “We had a lot of pace from the start and showed that we can implement major upgrades that deliver results on track. That is very encouraging. Now it’s a matter of refining things and extracting the true potential from all components. If that succeeds, I think we will get closer to the front group.”

Momentum
Also from the team management, the progress in Miami is seen as an important gauge towards Canada. Team principal Graeme Lowdon emphasizes that the team must maintain the momentum and continue building on the recent progress. “The team performed very well in Miami,” he added. “We introduced our first major upgrade package, which led to a noticeable performance improvement, and again both cars finished in both the Sprint and the Grand Prix. That is a great result for us.”
“The team also executed two pit stops that were among the ten fastest of the weekend, demonstrating that from an operational point of view we are on a strong upward trajectory,” concluded the Brit. “The goal in Montréal, a circuit very different from Miami, is to build on that momentum and continue this progress.”
